This fall I had the pleasure of capturing Morgan and Brett’s perfect fall wedding at Postlewait’s Country Weddings in Canby, Oregon. The location can be found out in the country at 29510 S Barlow Rd, Canby, OR 97013. This couple was fortunate enough to have perfect fall, Oregon weather to gather for their outdoor wedding ceremony. Postlewait’s has a great outdoor space for wedding ceremonies and receptions. They also had so many fun personal touches, like including Morgan’s husky in the ceremony and having late night pancakes served by the couple themselves.

Starting off their wedding at Postlewait’s, the ladies got ready together in the bridal suite, which is upstairs inside the barn. This also happened to be release day for Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, and it was on full blast as I entered their suite, setting a fun mood. One of my favorite features in the bridal suite are the vanity mirrors. The girls were able to “spy” on the reception space downstairs through the loft window as well.

When I chatted with Brett and Morgan during their engagement shoot, Brett mentioned that he thought it would be fun to have all of his groomsmen arrive in sports jerseys. I love this as a twist on your standard “getting ready” photos for the guys.

Brett and Morgan wanted to wait until the ceremony to have an aisle reveal of her and her dress. As a compromise of wanting to have that private moment before the ceremony, they opted for a “first touch”. I positioned them back-to-back and they read vows to each other in an intimate setting. This area was far enough away from the reception barn, where the wedding party was milling about, to be private.

Wedding Ceremony at Postlewait’s
The ceremony space for this wedding at Postlewait’s is located just over the creek from the reception barn, nestled in a pocket of oak trees. For ceremony decor, the couple used various baskets to arrange their flowers on the ground. I love this look, and am seeing this more and more over a traditional wooden arch!

Following the outdoor ceremony, we spent cocktail hour taking formal portraits before the early fall sun set over the evening. Guests headed back over the bridge to the reception barn, while the family and wedding party stayed near the ceremony area. There is a ton of curated landscaping for photo ops. Fortunately, we were also able to take some of their photos separately before the ceremony to minimize the time needed here away from guests.

Indoor/Outdoor Reception
After these photos, it was time to relax and get into the more casual part of the wedding day, the reception! The dinner, speeches, and first dance were held inside the barn, but once the dance floor opened, the guests headed outside and spent time under the string lights. The decor matched their fall wedding date, using shades of orange and terra cotta on the wooden tables.
