Nathan and Jamie had a vision for their Manzanita engagement photos that I was so excited to bring to life. Manzanita, Oregon is a special place for these two because his family has a beach house that has been around for generations. They had some favorite places around town that they wanted to include in their session before ending on the beach itself.

Meaningful Locations for Your Engagement Photos
We started out the session in town at The Winery at Manzanita and Manzanita Coffee Co. I think it’s so incredible to incorporate places that have meaning you you as a couple, rather than just a pretty place (but don’t get me wrong, I always love a pretty place too). You can think of destinations, coffee shops, bars, hotels, or parks that have some significance in your relationship. If you want to take photos inside one of these places, we’ll want to make sure we get permission like Nathan and Jamie did at the winery. Some places may charge fees to take photos inside their business, or it may be too crowded of a time that is disruptive. I also suggest looking at asking your wedding venue if you can have your engagement session there, which is a great opportunity for your photographer to do a venue walkthrough with you as well.

The next place, like I mentioned, was the family beach house in Manzanita. It had a quaint, beachy look to it and selfishly, fit my favorite color scheme to photograph with its brown exterior and green door. They brought props for their session, including champagne, glasses, flowers, and a blanket.

On the Beach
Lastly, the two changed outfits and we headed to the sand. It was an overcast day for Manzanita engagement photos, but the lighting was still as dreamy as ever. Jamie’s white dress was the perfect vibe for coastal photos, and the wind added a ton of movement.
