September is one of the best times of the year for engagement photos at Trillium Lake. This is a very seasonal area, being at the base of Mount Hood, so roads close in the winter. Trillium Lake is popular for summer activities like camping, kayaking, and paddle boarding. This area is especially stunning in September because the crowds begin to thin as kids go back to school, the light is golden and flattering, and the surrounding forest still feels lush and green. We moved between the lake’s edge, rocky shoreline, and nearby forest paths, creating a gallery with variety while keeping a cohesive, natural feel. From quiet moments overlooking the water to laughter-filled walks through the trees, the session felt easy, genuine, and true to who Stephanie and Daniel are together.

Logistics for Trillium Lake Engagement Photos
For your session at Trillium Lake, there is a parking fee ($10 per day as of 2025). You’ll drive in an head past the overnight camping area and straight to the day-use road and parking. This will take you to the south end, looking north over the water to see Mt. Hood. I also recommend shooting at this location on a weekday, if possible, for less people to be around.
We met on a sunny September evening, when the weather still feels like summer but the light starts to soften into those early fall tones. The lake was glassy and serene, with Mount Hood standing tall in the distance; one of those views that never gets old, no matter how many times you photograph it. Stephanie and Daniel immediately settled into the space together, laughing, walking hand in hand along the shoreline, and soaking in the experience rather than worrying about the camera.
Engagement photos are about more than just beautiful scenery; they’re about documenting this season of life and the connection you share before the wedding day. Stephanie and Daniel’s Trillium Lake engagement photos were filled with warmth, joy, and a sense of calm that made it truly special. If you’re considering Trillium Lake engagement photos, September is an incredible time to plan your session, especially if you want sunshine, soft light, and iconic Mount Hood views.
