Rowena Crest is most known for its abundance of wildflowers in April and May, but it offers phenomenal views of the Columbia River Gorge year-round. Alex and Min had their engagement session on a gorgeous January weekend. If you have room to be flexible in the date you choose for your engagement session in the Pacific Northwest, you’re sure to find a sunny day among the gray winter skies that linger. If you are looking for the wildflower season, check out this post about spring engagement photos at Rowena Crest.
These two started with a more formal outfit; Alex in a collared short and jeans, and Min in a short, white dress. Despite the cold temperatures and the wind, they embraced it and enjoyed their time together running around the Rowena Crest Plateau. They were drawn to the views of the river provided by the cliffs, so we walked across the Tom McCall Preserve trail to get to different spots.

For the second half of the session, they changed outfits into something a little more casual and suited for the winter temperatures. It added a lot of texture and intrigue to the photos. Alex had a brown leather jacket, and Min had a green and white flannel shacket. I In some spots, we were shielded from the sun and got more of a “blue hour” look, further cultivating the winter vibes for their winter engagement photos at Rowena Crest.

I also love to throw in some black and white copies of photos into everyone’s gallery. These always add more emotion and feeling into the photos, and match any space there is displayed.
