Shadow Hills Country Club Wedding | Eugene, OR

Weddings

A golf club or country club can make for a classy wedding and is sure to impress with their well-manicured venue. Shadow Hills Country Club is located just outside of Eugene, in Junction City. Taylor and Kaiden had a beautiful wedding in early September with the theme tying in a bit of fall as we entered a new season. The terracotta and blue colors complimented each other so well and I loved how the entire wedding party looked together!

The Flow of the Day for a Shadow Hills Country Club Wedding

The morning began with all of the details being set out and with the wedding party getting ready. Shadow Hills offers several great options to be the canvas for your wedding day. I particularly loved the garden area where we took the wedding party photos and where the couple had their first look. It is a private space away from country club members so you can have a quiet moment.

Your First Look and Private Vows Should Be True to Your Relationship

For the first look, Taylor and Kaiden chose the garden as the perfect spot. For photos, the contrast looked amazing with a darker background and made the two of them pop, as if the two of them really were the only people in the world. As a wedding photographer, I’m often the only person who gets to witness the first look between a couple and hear the private vows that many choose to read. These are the moments I hold near and dear to my heart and another reason that it’s important for you to vibe with your photographer in the booking process. They are there to witness some very vulnerable things!

These two had the perfect mix of heartfelt and silly words to exchange. Your vows can be whatever you want them to be and should represent your relationship. Just because it’s your wedding day doesn’t mean you need to be serious if that’s not who you are as a couple. Everyone loves a good joke here and there. From here, it was a moment to shake the nerves away and get to spend the rest of the day with each other.

As ceremony time arrived, guests were seated near the club house under a romantic tree setting. This is truly one of the best backdrops I have photographed for a ceremony. Often times, the ceremony takes place in the middle of the day and the location will be out in the harsh sunlight, making it difficult to get soft tones that so many desire. You can set yourself up for success (and provide more comfort to your guests) by having your ceremony in a shaded area.

Taking a pause in the day’s events to show off some of the stunning details! I love using vintage mirrors as wedding signage. They are fun for guests to use and share what they’re up to on social media. As for florals, they hired Foxbound Flowers out of Eugene, Oregon. Everything looked stunning and the colors complimented the rest of the details extremely well.

Dreamy Portraits at this Shadow Hills Country Club Wedding

Now for the photographer’s main event, the bride and groom portraits! One great thing about this venue is the variety of backdrops they have to offer. We took a couple of golf carts and headed out and about. There were a few water features and a pedestrian bridge that are unique to Shadow Hills. Next door to the golf course, there was an orchard that offered a different vibe of photos. To me, it kind of gives off “winery”, so it’s a great way to get some diversity in your gallery.

One of my favorite shots to get is by having me hold the veil towards my camera. The framing and swooping of the fabric is always stunning. As photos wrapped up, it was time for the reception. We drove our golf carts back to the club house and awaited the grand announcement. We had a bit of a break for dinner and then headed into the festivities of first dances and cake cutting.

Shadow Hills Country Club is great for different weather conditions, especially because they have a fully indoor space in case of rain or extreme weather. They also have a great covered patio space, which is a feature I always love. It will put some shade on you but you’ll still be able to enjoy all of the scenery. As the sun began to set on this wedding day, everyone began to let loose and celebrate.

This Shadow Hills Country Club wedding was very special to me, especially because Taylor is my cousin 😊. It was great for us to reconnect and to have family there!
