Cannon Beach Engagement | Oregon Coast Photographer

Couples

Looking for an Oregon Coast photographer to capture your proposal or engagement photos? Greysen reached out to me to capture surprise proposal photos at Cannon Beach for him and his soon-to-be fiancée, Maddy. The coast can be so unpredictable for weather any time during the year, and luckily this September evening turned out to be perfect. The main area on Cannon Beach, right in front of Haystack Rock, can be very crowded (especially on summer weekends). I have some other beautiful locations nearby that would offer a little more privacy and you can still see Haystack Rock in the distance! Take a look at this session to get a glimpse of one of my favorite spots for Oregon Coast proposals.

Couple kisses after engagement photos at the Oregon Coast

I headed to Cannon Beach early to make sure I was in place before these two arrived. To keep from being suspicious, we had to change plans when they decided to get dinner before heading to the beach for sunset. Eventually, I parked myself near Haystack Rock with my camping chair and gear in hand. Proposals are always the most nerve wracking thing to photograph because I never want to be the one responsible for ruining the surprise. Luckily, there were several other people around the beach taking landscape photos or other people’s portraits during golden hour, so I wasn’t too out of place.

Soon, I got the cue that they would be heading down with their puppy, Otis. They walked close to the water and took some photos on their phones together before he knelt down, which was a HUGE surprise for Maddy. Getting these genuine reactions is SO fun! We took a few more Oregon coast engagement photos to commemorate the day before the sun went below the horizon.

I always recommend having your Oregon coast session on a weekday or earlier in the morning to avoid crowds. Luckily, I was able to edit out many people from these photos, but the alternative also gives you more privacy during your session to play around! If you’re looking for an elaborate setup of flowers and more, I can refer you to some florists as well!
