Rachel and Isaac’s Oregon Coast engagement photos were the sweetest way to kick off the year. We met in late February, near Cannon Beach, and the whole afternoon felt like a breath of fresh, coastal air, complete with wind in our hair, moody skies, and the kind of quiet that only the off-season can offer.
Winter on the coast doesn’t mean gloomy or dull. In fact, I’d argue it adds a little magic. The clouds roll in softly, the ocean is a bit wilder, and the wind makes everything feel more alive. For this session, we embraced the wind-swept look and let the dramatic skies and soft coastal light guide us. The result? A dreamy, windswept gallery full of emotion and movement that perfectly tells their love story.

This session took place just north of the main Cannon Beach area, which helped us avoid crowds while still giving us that iconic coastal feel. Haystack Rock made a subtle appearance in the distance, and the surrounding dunes and tall grasses gave us plenty of texture and variety in the gallery—something I always strive for during an Oregon Coast engagement session.
Rachel wore a white, polka-dotted dress that was just the right mix of classic and playful—so perfect for a coastal engagement session. Her bouquet of white roses, baby’s breath, and eucalyptus gave the session a touch of elegance and tied everything together beautifully. I always recommend couples wear something they feel confident and comfortable in, and Rachel absolutely nailed it.

One of my favorite things about photographing couples in the winter is how intimate it feels. With fewer people around and the quiet hum of the ocean in the background, there’s this peacefulness that naturally invites closeness. These two leaned into that vibe completely—laughing, twirling, and stealing sweet little moments that made my job so easy. If you’re considering an engagement session on the Oregon Coast, don’t let the season stop you. Some of the most stunning sessions I’ve captured have happened on overcast or blustery days. With the right layers (and a sense of adventure!), February can be just as magical as a golden summer sunset. Plus, having the beach mostly to ourselves? Total win.
Another tip for coastal sessions—especially around Cannon Beach—is to be flexible. Weather can change quickly, so I always keep an eye on the forecast and sometimes adjust session times to catch the best light or avoid a downpour. It’s all part of the process, and the moody skies often end up being my favorite editing canvas.
If you’re dreaming of engagement photos on the Oregon Coast, don’t be afraid to consider the “off” months like February. The light is soft, the beaches are peaceful, and you’ll likely have the whole place nearly to yourselves. All it takes is a warm coat, a bit of flexibility with the weather, and the right photographer to guide you through it (hi!).
Rachel and Isaac—thank you for trusting me to document this chapter for you. You two were a dream to work with, and your gallery is full of warmth, joy, and everything I love about love.
