The Columbia River Gorge is the perfect setting for Oregon engagement photos. This location is only about 45 minutes from Portland and is actually on the Washington side of the river, offering the perfect view of the gorge cliffs on Oregon’s side. I was so excited to walk around these parks with Kylie and Jordan ahead of their wedding to capture engagement photos in early fall.
The best time for an engagement session in the Columbia Gorge (in my opinion) is between May and September. You’re likely to have better weather (especially in the summer months) than the rest of the year. I also love that there are a bunch of locations relatively close to each other here. While these were on the Washington side, it’s an easy drive over the Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks to get to the waterfalls on the Oregon side. The Columbia River Gorge is truly one of my favorite places to be. If you’re traveling in (even just from Portland), I think it’s SO much fun to book a hotel in Hood River or Cascade Locks and spend the night, have good beer or wine, and enjoy the river views. You can book a ride on the Sternwheeler, eat at Thunder Island Brewing, or visit the Gorge White House during your visit.
