Of all the spots for an intimate wedding in Oregon, Suttle Lake is one of my favorites for the forest and campsite vibe. This couple put together such a fun intimate wedding for their closest family and friends, featuring some boho decor, campsite signage, and of course the lakeside venue.
There are a few different options of routes you could take when having a wedding at Suttle Lake because there is a mix of hotel-style rooms, cabins, and campsites. Couples will want to have a designated space to get ready for their wedding day for hair and makeup, so Julia and Steve rented a couple of the private cabins to share with their wedding party. When us photographers arrived, we began in the bridal suite with flat-lay and getting ready photos. The couple had set aside a few souvenirs from the lodge, along with her engagement ring for us to shoot. They also brought along their two St. Bernards to be included in the ceremony.
Every time I post photos from this day, people are loving the groom’s green suit. And I agree! This color is so unique to what I normally see at weddings and it compliments the landscape so well. The whole day felt so Earthy, which fits well with the narrative of Oregonians.
Suttle Lake Wedding Ceremony
Now, on to the ceremony. They reserved two campsites next to each other to host their guests right on the lake. They decorated a simple triangular arch with a few floral pieces and pompas grass, hung string lights between the trees, and laid down a few thrifted rugs for an aisle runner. They had lots of privacy by choosing sites that were further away from others.
After the ceremony, it was time for their portraits. This area was just a few steps away from the ceremony space and the reception that guests were able to enjoy while we stepped away for a few minutes.
Reception Time
For the reception, Julia and Steve rented a huge white tent to keep guests dry. Luckily we had a dry morning all the way through the ceremony. It wasn’t until the reception time that the rain began to fall. Great timing! We had a cake cutting ceremony, shared some speeches, and enjoyed time with family, friends, and dogs.
Julia also brought some accessories with her for some additional portraits, featuring the furry friends. Check out this hand painted denim jacket!
I’ll end off with a few final details here. Look at these doggies swimming in the lake during the reception! I’ll tell you they sure had a blast in the rain and running around with each other. I’m also in love with their welcome sign, inspired by the national forest signs. Looking to plan your elopement or intimate wedding at Suttle Lake? Let’s get in touch!
