Mount Hood Engagement Photos in the Fall

Couples

Mount Hood is one of my favorite locations for engagement photos or elopements. I typically recommend going between July and September for optimal weather in the sun and without snow on the ground. I had a vision for fall engagement photos on Mt. Hood and Ariel and Spencer helped me bring it to life! We got really lucky with the timing for their session; these were taken in mid-October, and by the next weekend, the first snow had fallen and it was no longer dry and golden like these photos are. While October could work, I would recommend shooting for mid to late September for a similar look. Want to explore Mount Hood together for your engagement photos? Send a message here!

Engagement Photo Outfit Ideas

When it comes to outfits, I always recommend couples to wear neutral or Earthy colors. By that, I mean I prefer tans, creams, blues, and greens, colors that tend to match Oregon’s landscapes. When you’re taking engagement photos, I always suggest an outfit change to bring more variety to your photos or if you’re wanting to do a casual and a more formal look. Since we were going for a fall vibe here, Ariel wore light wash jeans and a white sweater, along with some heeled boots that could also handle some rocky terrain. Spencer had a slight outfit change between the two locations; one with a longer tan jacket, and one with a cream colored sweater.

Mount Hood Engagement Photo Locations

There are a bunch of great spots for engagement photos around Mount Hood. My go-to is at Timberline Lodge, where we found some great fall colors. In the summer, there are also wildflowers here! We also stopped for a few at the White River West Sno-Park, which is covered in boulders in the dry season and allows you to explore along the water. In terms of lighting, I would recommend the sno-park for a sunrise session with the way the sun rises and falls at this time of year.
