Scholls Valley Lodge Wedding – Hillsboro, Oregon

Featured, Weddings

This Scholls Valley Lodge Wedding was the perfect blend of colorful and classic. Scholls Valley Lodge is one of my favorite venues that is just outside of Portland, Oregon. This lodge is located in Hillsboro and has stunning views of the hills and vineyards surrounding. As a photographer, this location offers great backdrops to fit whatever you’re looking for. Helen and Casey’s day was full of laughter, love, and pops of color.

Venue Feature

I always favor venues that have bridal suites to make it convenient for getting ready in the morning and having your hair and makeup artist on-site. This way, the photographer can jump right in at the end of your getting-ready time and start with those final touch photos.

These two had their first look on the upper lawn, looking off to the south. This area was out of view from the hustle-and-bustle of the setup crew and allowed for an intimate moment to read private vows to one another.

Incorporating Color into Your Wedding Day

If you want to incorporate color into your wedding day, I loved this bride’s added touch on her veil. It featured colorful embroidered floral patterns and allowed the option to keep that look, or remove for an all-white bridal moment. The groom’s suit was a gorgeous blue, complimenting the scenery. The added touch there was the boutonniere, matching the rest of the florals used for their big day. Helen’s bridal look was so stunning. Hair and makeup was done by Courtney at Knot & Rouge. She had a vision for the staircase at the back of the lodge for some bridal portraits, and we made it happen!

From there it was time for couples portraits, the biggest part of the day for a wedding photographer. These are the photos you’ll want to hang on your walls, and it’s where I love to create all the magic ✨

Ceremony and Reception Time

Their ceremony was officiated by the groom’s sister, just another way to add meaningful elements to your day. Asking a loved one to officiate gives an added sense of meaning to the ceremony. The sun was shining on the stone patio, overlooking the valley below. The view is absolutely stunning, and just one of a few options of spots to hold the ceremony at. As mentioned, the colors were vibrant and bold. Each bridesmaid chose their own color, fitting into the theme in unison. Mismatched bridesmaid dresses are excellent for adding personality to the day.

From there, it was time to party the evening away under the pavilion! Another favorite feature of this venue is the reception space. It is a covered area, but still open on the sides for the outdoor experience while having protection from various weather conditions. Raining? Stay dry. Hot day? Take refuge in the shade. The lighting will still be great for your reception with the natural light allowed by this type of event space. Your guests will have plenty of picturesque backgrounds to post to Instagram and your wedding album will hold so much beauty.

A Scholls Valley Lodge Wedding is one of my favorites and it’s one of my top rated venues! I’d love to shoot there again if you’re hosting your wedding with them! Inquire here for photography services
